Staatsoper

Top choice in Vienna

The glorious Staatsoper is Vienna's premier opera and classical-music venue. Productions are lavish, formal affairs, where people dress up accordingly. In the interval, wander the foyer and refreshment rooms to fully appreciate the gold-and-crystal interior. Opera is not performed here in July and August (though tours still take place). Tickets can be purchased up to two months in advance.

Tickets to the annual Opernball range from €315 to an eye-watering €23,600 and sell out years in advance.
