The Heartbreak Hotel, a fairly standard outback roadhouse and expensive fuel stop, is 267km west of Daly Waters, 123km short of Borroloola and 374km from the Barkly Homestead Roadhouse…yes, you're in the middle of nowhere. Pitch the tent on the shaded grassy lawn and then nurse a cold beer on the wide verandah.
Rooms are simple, but the deluxe cabins are rather nice, if a touch pricey. Breakfast, lunch and dinner (meals $17 to $33) are available.
