    San Cristóbal Mineral Springs

    These mineral springs are fed into two large, slightly murky swimming pools. The lukewarm water supposedly has curative properties. You can rent a towel, soap and a bathing suit if you’ve forgotten yours (though the selection is limited and unlovely). You can reach the springs via a steep flight of stairs – enjoy the view of the city as you climb.

    Adventure park extraordinaire, this place is a terror for acrophobes and a blast for kids and juvenile adults. Offerings include paintball (S75), a 10-meter climbing wall (S36), a 122m bungee jump (S230) and a bungee slingshot (S230). It’s also possible to go paragliding (S315) from the mirador of Racchi. The park is 11km outside Cuzco on the road to Poroy.

    A touristy bodega, located less than 10km north of Ica, Bodega El Catador lets tourists join in a symbolic stomping of the grapes during February and March, and runs free tours and wine and pisco tastings all year. It also has a restaurant that serves local specialties and occasionally has live music. A taxi should cost about S7 each way.

    Weary trekkers soak away their aches and pains in Aguas Caliente's hot springs. These tiny, natural thermal springs, from which Aguas Calientes derives its name, are nice enough but far from the best in the area (that would be Santa Teresa’s Cocalmayo), and get scungy by late morning. Towels can be rented cheaply outside the entrance.

Eduard organizes horseback-riding tours that last up to two weeks. An overnight in the Sacred Valley with rides to Salinas, Maras and Moray includes all meals and luxury accommodations. Advance bookings are required.
