Abercrombie & Kent just introduced the Ultimate Iceland & Greenland Cruise, a 15-day adventure led by famed mountaineer Alex Pancoe. Pancoe is one of only 49 individuals in the world who has completed the Explorers Grand Slam, which consists of climbing the highest mountain on each continent and reaching the North and South Poles.

Offered on 13-17 August 2020, the itinerary gives travelers the chance to explore Iceland’s Eldfell volcano which last erupted in 1973, rappel down a rock formation overlooking Qaqortoq, kayak Tunulliarfik Fjord, trek the Greenland Ice Cap, hike from a cryolite mine to an abandoned Danish naval base, summit Iceland’s Dynjandi Falls and more. Kids may select more family-friendly options.

“This voyage goes to some of the most incredible and beautiful landscapes in a remote area of the world that few have travelled to,” says Bob Simpson, vice-president of expedition cruising for Aberkrombie & Kent. “By incorporating adventurous elements, guests...will be participating in activities that capture the spirit of the pioneers who explored this unforgiving landscape and follow in their footsteps.”

All activities are under the guidance of Pancoe, who will be on hand to recount his stories and encourage guests to set their own goals. Pancoe survived a brain tumor at age 18; he climbed Kilimanjaro with Abercrombie & Kent in November of 2016 which pushed him past his comfort zone and stirred him to keep pushing his limits according to Simpson. He joins the outfitter’s expedition team of scientists, historians and conservationists who offer insight on the geology, wildlife, culture and peoples of these regions. And a dedicated photo coach helps would-be photographers capture perfect shots in these amazingly photogenic settings.

The cruise will take place on the luxurious mega-yacht Le Boreal, whose guest capacity of 199 and staff-to-guest ratio of 1 to 1.3 translates to unparalleled service. Each voyage is all-inclusive of transfers, gratuities, meals, bar drinks, Wi-Fi and laundry service, and every stateroom has a private balcony. Abercrombie & Kent provides a custom expedition parka, backpack and water bottle, and guests also enjoy complimentary use of boots, waterproof pants and trekking poles.
