Lonely Planet review for La Dolce Vita

Life is indeed sweet at Thamel’s best Italian bistro, offering up delights such as parmesan gnocchi; excellent antipasti; goat’s cheese, spinach and walnut ravioli; sinfully rich chocolate torte and wines by the glass. Choose between the rustic red-and-white tablecloths and terracotta tiles of the main restaurant, a rooftop garden, the yummy-smelling espresso bar (real Lavazza coffee) or sunny lounge space; either way the atmosphere and food are excellent. It’s right on the corner opposite Kathmandu Guest House.

Spinach and Goat Cheese Ravioli , and potato polpette :)

    yangji recommends this,

They have the most amazing spinach and goat cheese ravioli , served with french bread. The chicken and tomato ravioli isn't bad either , and the servings for spaghetti bolognese are huge. Enjoy a quiet dinner on the roof or some lovely music downstairs. the staff are always so nice , and every single one of the deserts are fantastic. I recommend their iced tea and the three layered mouse.

    Little Italy in Kathmandu

    timclark533 recommends this,

Is the thought of yet another Dal Bhat getting you down? Stomach churning at the thought of yet another bowl of rice? Or maybe you're just craving that espresso or slice of Western cuisine that you've been missing. Look no further than La Dolce Vita, an Italian restaurant in the heart of Kathmandu that somehow manages to make pizzas to rival anything you could get in Rome.

Directly opposite the Kathmandu Guesthouse, La Dolce Vita with it's checkered tablecloths and candlelit dinners was a favourite hangout of this reviewer while living in Kathmandu. The food is truly incredible, from their simple yet mouthwatering Margaritas to the creamiest Carbonara you'll ever eat. And if you're looking for that afternoon pick me up between temples, their espressos leave nothing to be desired.

Be sure to sit up on the roof for views of the busy 'chowk' (intersection) below and watch the stars come out. And of course, all this comes at a dirt cheap price, with a full meal (including drinks and dessert) costing no more than 5 US dollars. Cheaper and tastier than nearby rival "Fire and Ice", and boasting the best Italian in Nepal, you can't afford to miss this very out of place, yet very authentic slice of Italy.
