Run by Friends International (www.friends-international.org), this small restaurant trains homeless youths to cook and wait tables. The modern Lao cuisine is both interesting and tasty.

    Good food, good cause

    Interesting fusion Lao food with a lot of different tastes. The restaurant sells also some handicraft made by minorities. (Would be fine if the van bringing tourists does not stay in front of the restaurant with its engine running. Have seen that several times)

    The best place in Vientiane for delicious modern Lao food!

    I live in Vientiane and I very often go to this great restaurant. They use typically Lao recipes or ingredients, but they always add a twist to make them new, original, and delicious. It is really the only restaurant in Laos where you can enjoy true modern Lao gastronomy.
    Also, all the staff are former street children who receive training and are offered accommodation in Vientiane so they can later find a job or start their own business. They are very friendly, very nice, and do an excellent job in the kitchen and in the restaurant.
    In a nutshell, Makphet is a wonderful experience of delicious Lao cuisine for a great cause. Enjoy!
