Salugara Monastery

Siliguri & New Jalpaiguri

About 7km north of central Siliguri, this brightly coloured Tibetan-style monastery is crowned with an imposing 30m tall chorten (Tibetan-style stupa).

It's the main seat of the tantric Sed-Gyued lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, known as the whispered lineage for its method of passing secret teachings from teacher to disciple.
