Lonely Planet review for Saravana Bhavan

Massively popular, Tamil Saravana has a fast-food feel, but food is by no means junk: dosas, idlis and other southern specialities, accompanied by lovely fresh chutneys. Inventive sweets include cucumber-seed ladoos (sweet balls). Finish with a South Indian coffee. Arrive early or queue!

    Value for Money

    pushkin23 recommends this,

We ordered a couple of fixed thalis, a couple of dosas, and soft drinks. The highlights here too (like in Kaustubh restaurant) were the chutneys – more than 6 in number. Their sambar and coconut chutney were one of the best i have tasted. Fixed thalis consisted of 2 vegetables, dal, rasam, sambar, papad, pickle, pooris, rice and much more. Each of the gravies were yummy and blended perfectly with the pooris (i earlier used to associate poories with choley or aloo ki sabzi only). The rice however seemed to be of poor quality. The dosas were as usual good.
The food for sure made up for the lack of service. The bill for five of us came around Rs 1000 – perfectly value for money.

So next time if your are in or around CP and looking for a place that gives you value for money then look no further – Saravana Bhavan should be your destination.

Good for: fixed thali, south indian

Best Place in Delhi to Savor South Indian Cuisines

    nikhilchandra recommends this,

Well I happened to have Idli once and the Dosa the latest that I visited this restaurant and let me tell you they offer scrumptious South Indian cuisines. Well the Dosa was so sumptuous that I couldn't finish even one. There were four kind of chatnis to go with the Dosa and the platter was delicious. Service too was good and I must mention it coz I had forgotten my camera but he called me as I was leaving to remind me of that.

Good for: lunch, budget dinning, South Indian Cuisines, Dosa, Connaught Place eateries

Tasty traditional south Indian foodie joint...

    nypd recommends this,

    Hi,
I myself being North Indian , relish south indian food a lot....and I am crazy about idlis, dosas, bise bele baath, poongal...and this is awesome place to hog and down it all with hot cup of filter coffee... this place is for people who love typical south indian food...you get authentic taste here....your search ends here....specially this kind of food is very very healthy as idlis, idiappam and all are kind of steamed food and they go well with amazing curries.....in short hog and digest it with coffee mug... it is very very affordable place.
