Lonely Planet review for Haldiram’s

With a clean, bright cafe-restaurant upstairs, this is a handy spot for a top-notch thali (Rs98) or some tasty South Indian cuisine. Downstairs is great for namkin (savouries) and mithai (sweets) on the dash. Try the soan papadi (flaky sweet with almond and pistachio).

    It´s nice food

I ate here and the food was oke/good. Haldiram´s has several counters and looks as a kantine. You order at the cash counter and afterwards you collect your food at the diffrent counters. For example 1 for Indian, 1 for pasta etc.

When I ate here I ordered french fries and pasta. The french fries where finished in 1 minute but for the pasta there was a waiting line. In the end my friends had their dinner allready and I was still waiting for my pasta.... I suggest to order food in 1 category.

    A good family dining place.

Haldiram's is the pride of Indian Fast Food. It presents you with a HUGE variety of sweets and snacks, with each and every item having its own unique taste. Haldiram's namkeen's are the rage in delhi! The outlet in Chandni Chowk is one of the very busy outlet. This is one the best branches that haldiram's has in and around Delhi. If you don't find an Indian sweet of your choice on the menu here, chances are you're not going to find it anywhere else in delhi! Very popular hence very crowded so it might take a good ten minutes waiting queue at the counter to place order. Its setup is pretty cool as well. There is an open air chaat counter just as you enter. You get a variety of chaats here like pani puri, sev puri, pattice, samosas, pav bhajis etc. Besides sweets and snacks you can also have wide variety of cuisines ranging form South Indian, Chinese, North Indian, mexican and a few continental choices. Mind you, it's all pure vegetarian. If you want your street food sanitised, mineral watered down, served to you in plastic gloves and sealed in air-tight plastic bags, then this place is for you. The restaurant has something for everyone-so if you're a large indecisive family, head here.
