Artisans have been making the striped Mallorcan fabrics known as robes de llengües here at this family-run business since 1854, and the contemporary fabrics they turn out are faithful to traditional designs. Some of their works are on display at the Museu Martí Vicenç.

This absolutely gorgeous and stylish centre is in a carefully refurbished Georgian townhouse, built between 1741 and 1744 . These days it's best known for its cafes and restaurants but it also does a top-end, selective trade in high fashion, art, exquisite handicrafts and other chichi sundries.

Try Maioliche Nulli, where Rolando Nulli creates each item by hand, while his brother Goffredo, wife Tiziana or son Luca finishes them with intricate paintings, specialising in classic medieval designs. If they’re not busy and you ask nicely in Italian, they might even bring you downstairs and teach you to throw a bowl on the wheel. Maioliche Nulli packages and ships anywhere in the world. Parking is available and it’s open Sunday.

Tucked away behind the Església de la Mare de Déu deis Àngels, this appealing little shop sells high-quality handmade handicrafts by mostly small-scale Mallorcan artisans. There's glassware, soap, ceramics, paper products and wrought-iron work, and the the British owner, Lynn Hazelhurst, can explain more about the artist behind each piece.
