    Billed as the 'world's largest fashion store', the Topshop branch on Oxford Circus is a constant frenzy of shoppers searching for the latest look at reasonable prices. It's been given a shot of cool by being home to a range by London's favourite local supermodel rock chick, Kate Moss. Topman is upstairs.

    Artisans have been making the striped Mallorcan fabrics known as robes de llengües here at this family-run business since 1854, and the contemporary fabrics they turn out are faithful to traditional designs. Some of their works are on display at the Museu Martí Vicenç.

    This absolutely gorgeous and stylish centre is in a carefully refurbished Georgian townhouse, built between 1741 and 1744 . These days it's best known for its cafes and restaurants but it also does a top-end, selective trade in high fashion, art, exquisite handicrafts and other chichi sundries.

    Try Maioliche Nulli, where Rolando Nulli creates each item by hand, while his brother Goffredo, wife Tiziana or son Luca finishes them with intricate paintings, specialising in classic medieval designs. If they’re not busy and you ask nicely in Italian, they might even bring you downstairs and teach you to throw a bowl on the wheel. Maioliche Nulli packages and ships anywhere in the world. Parking is available and it’s open Sunday.

    Surrounded by Sóller's famous ice-cream shop Sa Fàbrica de Gelats, Fet a Sóller is an altogether different culinary experience. Mallorcan products, primarily those from around Sóller, line the shelves with olive oils, wines, almonds, jams, figs in cognac and balsamic vinegar made from Sóller oranges.

    This is the place to come for authentic Mallorcan handcrafted porqueras, shoes made from recycled car tyres. The bowling-shoe designs in some won't appeal to everyone, but this is very Mallorca. Prices start at €42.

    Tucked away behind the Església de la Mare de Déu deis Àngels, this appealing little shop sells high-quality handmade handicrafts by mostly small-scale Mallorcan artisans. There's glassware, soap, ceramics, paper products and wrought-iron work, and the the British owner, Lynn Hazelhurst, can explain more about the artist behind each piece.

    A dynamic artistic space, Arte Artesania is at once classy and avant-garde, with its designer jewellery and small range of paintings and sculpture. They're the work of Spanish and international artisan-designers and exhibitions are often hosted here. It may have longer opening hours in the height of summer.
