Coptic Cemetery

Alexandria

The Shatby area of central Alexandria has been a home to the city's necropolis for centuries, although this Coptic cemetery is a more recent (for Alexandria) addition. The various cemeteries in this area illustrate how cosmopolitan Alexandria once was. The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is running a heritage project to protect the Coptic cemetery.
