A legend on the Santiago restaurant circuit, Liguria mixes equal measures of bar and bistro perfectly. Stewed rabbit or silverside in batter are chalked up on a blackboard, then dapper old-school waiters place them on the red-checked tablecloths with aplomb. Vintage adverts, Chilean memorabilia and old bottles decorate the wood-paneled inside, but it’s the sidewalk tables that diners really fight over – even on weeknights you should book ahead.

    My Favorite Restaurant In Santiago!

    Simply put, Liguria is my favorite restaurant in Santiago. There are three locations in Providencia and each one has its own special charm. I prefer the Pedro de Valdivia location (Av. Pedro de Valdivia 047, Providencia) because of its cozy pub-like ambience...and the fact that they don't allow children. The two other locations, however, do allow children.

    The atmosphere is casual to dressy casual. I eat lunch there in shorts all the time and it's perfectly acceptable, but I feel more comfortable there at night dressing a little better...but don't worry, you don't need a jacket.

    I've probably eaten at Liguria at least 50 times over the last couple of years and I can honestly say that I always walk away (and on occasion stumble away) happy and well fed. Their menu varies from day-to-day, but it's pretty much the place to go when you're craving a steak or some unbelievable mashed potatoes. I love the Biffe Chorizo. Don't be fooled by the name. In the US we think of chorizo as sausage, but here in Chile, it's like a Porterhouse Steak...and at Liguria, it's like heaven. Steaks at Liguria, dare I offend my Argentine friends, rival anything you can get in Buenos Aires...well almost.

    The wine selection at Liguria is superb, and because Chile has amazing wines, there's no need to spend a lot on a bottle. Mid-range priced wines are excellent...and it's hard to go wrong.

    I love this place...and you will too!
