Introducing Casablanca Valley Wineries
A cool climate and temperatures that vary greatly from day to night have made this valley halfway between Santiago and Valparaíso one of Chile's best regions for fruity Chardonnays, Sauvignon Blancs and Pinots. Its well-organized wineries take food and wine tourism seriously, and many have on-site restaurants. There's no public transportation to any of the wineries, but in a rental car you can easily blitz four or five of them in a day – most are on or around Ruta 68. Alternatively, contact the Ruta del Vino de Casablanca for tours. Most wineries have excellent on-site restaurants and/or upscale lodgings; some of the standouts are listed below.
Note that servings at tastings tend to be generous – you can save money and sobriety by sharing them between two people.
