Introducing Villa Traful

This little village enjoys an almost achingly beautiful location surrounded by mountains on the southern banks of Lago Traful. The place really packs out in January, February and Easter, when booking accommodation three months in advance is advised. The rest of the year, you may just have it to yourself. Depending on what you’re into, November, December, March and April are great times to be here.

Getting here is half the fun – Villa Traful is 80km north of Bariloche via unpaved RP 65. Continuing east of Traful along the Río Traful to RN 237, you roll through spectacular countryside with wild, towering rock formations very distinct from the areas to the south.

The tourist office (479099; daily summer, Sat-Wed winter) is on the eastern side of the village.

Banco de la Provincia de Neuquén in the middle of the village has an ATM that accepts Visa and MasterCard.
