Join this five-day adventure exploring the highlights of Wales from London, where you'll absorb breathtaking scenery in National Parks and marvel at some of Wales' most historic castles. During this small-group tour you'll also spend time the capital city Cardiff, visit Britain's smallest city St Davids, discover Welsh industrial history at the Big Pit National Coal Museum and much more… • Travel through beautiful scenery in the Brecon Beacons, Snowdonia and the Pembrokeshire Coast. • Discover the history of some of the most magnificent castles in Wales • Spend time exploring Cardiff and also visit Britain's smallest city; St David's • Learn about Wales' industrial past at the Big Pit National Coal Museum  • Small-groups with a maximum of 16 passengers, starting and finishing in London • Includes: four-nights accommodation, Tour Leader and minibus transportation
Day One: Your journey begins by departing London and travelling towards the beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds, where you’ll stop in at Burford; a historic market town that typifies the charm of the area. Then, cross over the border into Wales where the next stop is Skenfrith Castle; here you can have some lunch and marvel at the medieval military architecture. After that it's a short trip to the Big Pit National Coal Museum; a celebration of Coal Mining where you can discover Wales’ industrial past and perhaps take an underground tour.Day Two: Today starts by savouring the scenery of the Brecon Beacons as you head to the first stop, Carreg Cennen; a castle with a dramatic location on the top of a limestone cliff. Next, travel to the main stop of today, Dinefwr; a magnificent estate with a Welsh Castle, Country House and extensive grounds. This afternoon you'll travel through the heart of Wales towards the Elan Valley; a terrain defined by impressive dams and stirring wilderness, before arriving at the next stop, the famous Devil’s Bridge and falls.Day Three: This morning you'll travel northwards through the breathtaking landscape of Snowdonia National Park. You’ll stop at the quaint village of Beddgelert, before heading to the coast to visit Harlech Castle; one of Edward I’s ring of magnificent 13th Century medieval fortresses around North Wales. Explore the castle, have lunch and absorb stunning mountain and seascape views. From here it's back to Aberystwyth with time to check out the seafront, castle or ascend Constitution Hill for some panoramic views of the town.Day Four: Today you'll travel along the scenic Pembrokeshire coast, first to the tiny harbour of New Quay; known for multi-coloured cottages, sandy beaches and connection to the famous Welsh 20th century poet, Dylan Thomas. Next, continue to Abercastle, where you can visit a working Welsh woollen mill. Then you'll arrive at Britain’s smallest city; St Davids, the home of Wales' patron Saint where you can explore the iconic Cathedral. Your last stop today is Pembroke; home to one of the biggest and most important castles in Anglo-Welsh history.Day Five: The final day of this Welsh adventure begins by visiting Cardiff, where there’ll be time to discover this cosmopolitan city; including Cardiff Castle, the modern Cardiff Bay area and the National Museum of Wales. After lunch you’ll head to the next stop, Caerleon; home to an important and well preserved Roman Fortress complex. From here, cross back over the border to the final stop, Avebury village, where you'll find the largest stone circle in the world. Now it’s time to return to London, where your voyage concludes.Overnight locations: Brecon Beacons (1), Aberystwyth (2-3), Tenby (4).
