Hi,

I am planning a trip to Kon Tum, and trying to organise visits to Kon Kotu, Plei Chot, and some other villages.

Kon Kotu: I am unable to contact the Kon Kotu homestay. Mostly their number (found on the net) gives an error message (telling me the number does not exist), and once it did come through but the person couldn't speak any English or French. So I google-translated my request into Vietnamese and texted it - still no response...

Plei Chot: described by the Michelin guide as a "must…

Hi,
Looking into this motorbike or scooter tour in north Vietnam. I'll be in the country in June and wondering if it's worth going at that time or skipping? Tour looks great, but I'm concerned about going in the wet season, road conditions with the rain, etc.

Skip because of June or still worth going?

Are there remote areas like ninh binh and mai chau but in the south, with lots of epic nature? Looking for somewhere pretty and quiet to teach english in the south.

Has anyone here tried one of these 2 day treks (with home stay) with children :

  • Sapa –> Y Linh Ho —> Lao Chai —> Ta Van —> Giang Ta Chai. Return to Sapa by car. Total km: 28 in 2 days.

  • Sapa —> Suoi Ho —> Matra —> Ta Phin —> Trung Chai. Return to Sapa by car. Total km: 24 in 2 days.

Was it doable and enjoyable and which one would you suggest?

My kids have done medium 8km treks in gorges and 10-12km walks on flat trails. (However, never two days in a row.) They are 10, 10…

Hey guys!

For tourists, you have a few types of tourist visas you can choose from:

1 month single entry (Valid for 30 days. You cannot hop out of Vietnam. Once you leave, your trip is done. This is the most common visa people get).
1 month multiple entry (You can hop in and out of Vietnam as many times as you want during those 30 days)
3 months single entry (Valid for 90 days. You cannot hop out of Vietnam. Once you leave, your trip is done)
3 months multiple entry (You can hop in and out of…

Is it recommended to get a Visa from the Vietnamese Embassy ahead of time? They have quoted me $100 CAD pp. Or is it just as easy and cheaper to get the visa on landing in Hanoi? I don't mind paying for the convenience if necessary as we land at 10 pm, will be tired, and will want to get out of the airport as quickly as possible.

First, let me say thank you to many people who post here with helpful suggestions!
We recently spent a month (March 2018) in Vietnam independently traveling from Hanoi to Saigon. This report is about the five days we were in the Mekong Delta. We are 65+, experienced travelers and mostly stay in 3 star accommodations. We made all our hotel reservations in advance, most through booking.com.
We arrived in Can Tho on a Vietjet flight from Danang. We stayed two nights in a very nice superior room…

Hi all,
I'm going to begin/attempt to begin a route from Hanoi to HCM city by moped starting next week. Before I go any further I have read countless posts etc regarding this and fully understand the risks involved.

What I am looking for if possible is any advice from anyone who has done this route or scootered in Vietnam! Any help at all would be massively appreciated. I am looking at buying a scooter in Hanoi and then selling at the other end so if anyone has any help on that or routes etc…

me and a friend are thinking of biking down vietnam, i know the roads are dangerous but we wont be biking in the big cities and are going to take the scenic route.
However, i do realise travel insurance is very important if we do bike and neither of us have licenses here so to qualify for insurance wed have to ride a 50cc.
is a 50cc good enough to go down vietnam....
