Low-cost airline with the most flights from Cat Bi International Airport, linking Haiphong with Buon Me Thuot, HCMC, Dalat, Danang, Nha Trang, Pleiku and Phu Quoc, and internationally to Seoul and Bangkok.
There’s no train line to Sapa, but very regular services from Hanoi to Lao Cai. You can book tickets at the Railway Booking Office on P Cau May, which charges a small commission.
From Tuan Chau Pier, 13km southwest of central Halong City (Bai Chay), there are three car ferries to Cat Ba Island's Gia Luan Harbour. Boat day trips of Halong Bay also depart from here.
Cat Ba’s public QH Green Bus trundles between Cat Ba Harbour and Gia Luan Harbour in the north of the island, passing the national park headquarters en route.
The jumping-off point for boats to Hon Gai Pier (in Halong City) and Cai Rong Pier (on Van Don Island). It's located about 3km south of Quan Lan Town.
Links Haiphong with Buon Ma Thuot, Ho Chi Minh City, Thuy Hoa, Quy Nhon and Dong Hoi, and internationally with Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore.
The closest bus station to Haiphong city centre and very convenient for those connecting with the Cat Ba boats at nearby Ben Binh Pier.
From Hon Gai Pier (across the suspension bridge from Halong City) there is one daily speedboat service to Quan Lan Island.
Boats and buses bound for Cat Ba Island leave from the ferry pier, 10 minutes’ walk from the city centre.
Bai Chay bus station is 6km south of central Halong City (Bai Chay), near the Bay Chai bridge.
