Hi,
What is the best way to buy tickets for the Fanxipan Night Train? (4-berth cabins) The website redirects me towards a vast travel agency and the hotel owner says she cannot buy the tickets herself, only the tickets for the "normal" night train. I don't know yet what she is referring to by "normal" train.
Thank you.

Hello all! I will be entering Vietnam from Cambodia at the Ha Tien border crossing and am trying to figure out the best way to obtain an e-visa for a land border crossing. All of the e-visa third party providers I'm finding only offer their services for airport entry, and I'm not finding another online option. If I can't find one, I suppose I'll need to get it from an embassy, but I'm wondering how long that will take. It also looks like the embassy option would be more expensive.

I'm a little…

hello all!
My boyfriend and I are travelling to Vietnam in July and I'm looking for some advice on tours in Phong Nha-Ke Bang national park.
I have been trying to find some into on the tours/caves and have had some advice to do the Hang En 2D1N tour with Oxalis. I have a fear of heights/slopes and he is not the strongest swimmer. In saying that I have a fear of heights, I would manage as long as I had something to hold onto - I just cant handle being atop any cliff edges without a barrier, or…

Hi everyone,

I am in a bit of flux and was hoping if you kind people can help with a few queries. I have my vacations from 30th June to 10th July and was hoping to travel somewhere for that duration. I am planning a month long trip in late August so don't want to spend a lot this time and have a budget of around 1050 USD for this trip including airfare.

Now i usually like traveling solo or in small groups and love backpacking/couchsurfing to experience the local culture. But my back is a…

I will be coming from Kampot, crossing the border at Ha Tien and going to Can Tho (1st night stop). Then probably will stay overnight at Vinh Long for the second night and for the third night at Ben Tre. And then on the 4th day going to Ho Chi Minh City. What do you think of this plan? How to go from place to place? What to visit? Suggestions/recommendations?

My husband and I are going on our honeymoon in Vietnam for a month in August. I'll be posting our full itinerary in a separate post at a later date to get feedback. For now, we are trying to figure out the first leg of our trip. We're not sure in which order to do things. We arrive in Hanoi on August 11 and are planning on spending 4 days in Hanoi, doing a 2 night/3 day Bai Tu Long Bay cruise, and want to incorporate a Pu Luong or a combo Pu Luong/Mai Chau or Pu Luong/Ninh Binh trip as well…

hello all!
My boyfriend and I are travelling to Vietnam in July and I'm looking for some advice on tours in Phong Nha-Ke Bang national park. We are interested in doing a one day cave tour. The multi day ones sound a bit intense for us, this is because whilst we are both quite fit, I have a fear of heights/slopes and he is not the strongest swimmer. In saying that I have a fear of heights, I would manage as long as I had something to hold onto - I just cant handle being atop any cliff edges…

I will be back in Vietnam for 11 days in July (1st to the 11th) and it's just occurred to me that July 1st is the tentative date that the powers that be might change all the visa arrangements. Since I still have time to get down to the embassy and organize a proper visa if need be, I'm not too worried yet. But I need to know for sure whether or not things are likely to change so can anyone enlighten me? Have the Vietnamese authorities made any proclamation on this issue? Do I need to take a day…

Hi there one and all. I just have a feeling that Sapa has changed considerably since I was there in 1996 and that it possibly has become a victim of it's own success and popularity. Do you think that's true? Has it lost it's charm and what's it like now going on the short treks now to the outlining villages. Do you get a sense now that either the residents of the villages are sick of tourists, or spoilt by tourism? Or is it still quite wonderful going there? Can anyone suggest some great…
