This fantastic 5 days itinerary lets you explore deep in the Mekong delta, including Can Tho, Soc Trang, Sa Dec, Cao Lanh. Immerse yourself in the local cultures and traditions of the people living on the banks of this immense river. You will cycle down narrow laneways, along single river tracks, over quaint bridges and over ferry crossings all the while taking in the atmosphere of the bamboo villages as you pass by. There will be chance to get an insight into the old French colonial days and learn about the architecture which is still visible from times gone by. Take a boat down narrow hidden waterways before returning to reality.
Day 1 – Saigon - Can ThoThe ride today offers peaceful country lanes and quiet roads that pass through local villages and along canals. Stop at Cai Be where you will have lunch in a French colonial styled villa then continue the cycle journey toward Vinh Long.Cycling distance: Approx. 40 kmMeals: Lunch Day 2 – Can Tho - Soc Trang Take a morning boat ride to explore the bustling Cai Rang floating market. Stop at a local orchard to taste juicy tropical fruit, then pedal along the river bank. On the ride to Soc Trang, the centre of the Khmer religion, you will see many Khmer pagodas along the way. Cycling distance: Approx. 60 kmMeals: Breakfast, LunchDay 3 – Soc Trang – Sa DecTransfer to the Can Tho ferry, pick up your cycles and enjoy riding along the bank of the Hau River to Sa Dec. Cycle through country lanes, paddy fields and bamboo villages. In Sa Dec visit the riverside market, old houses, the French villas of colonial times and historic temples and pagodas. Cycling distance: Approx. 60 kmMeals: Breakfast, Lunch Day 4 – Sa Dec - Cao Lanh Start riding on small riverside routes dotted with old houses, temples, pagodas and churches, to a flower village. Once in Xeo Quyt, a small boat will take you into the forest where vestiges of an army base can still be seen. Overnight in Cao Lanh.Cycling distance: Approx. 60 km Meals: Breakfast, Lunch Day 5 – Saigon On your final cycling day, ride on a country lane to Gao Giong Eco-Tourism Park, a vast green oasis of water flowers.
