Bring your snorkel. When storms roll in from the west, Grand Targhee Resort gets epic powder, while Jackson on the other side of the range is left with the dust. The mountain's laid-back vibe is welcoming while the 1500 acres of terrain are well-suited for families and intermediate skiers. (Plus a few gut-drops for the more advanced.)
The summer bike park maximizes the terrain with plenty of huck and flow for all types of riders, while hikers can catch a ride to the top of the Dreamcatcher lift (adult/child $15/10) for a face-to-face encounter with Grand Teton's even more photogenic backside.
Targhee is reached through the Teton Valley, just over the pass west of Jackson, WY. There are a handful of lodges at the base area, or stay in Driggs, Idaho.
