The Monocle’s food – very American, surf-and-turf-type stuff – is generally good, occasionally great, sometimes disappointing. But people don’t come here to eat so much as to politician spot, and seeing as the restaurant is just behind the Capitol, your chances of glimpsing a senator aren’t bad.

The dark bar and the walls help drive home the fact that it is a politico place first and foremost; note the quotes (‘If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog’).
