Italian in Downtown & Penn Quarter

Chihuly-esque glass lights dangle over a sleek dining room dotted by dark oak tables and turquoise chairs, and photo art of Vespas, the Trevi Fountain, and other Italian streetscapes. It's mostly businesspeople and couples on dates forking into the veal meatballs with mascarpone polenta and herbed rabbit over sunchoke puree. Reservations are wise, or wait in the mod bar-lounge. The entrance is on the corner of 12th & H Sts.
