Travel to Charlottesville, Virginia where we will continue up the mountainside to Monticello, home of Thomas Jefferson, President, surveyor, musician and artist. This relaxing tour is the perfect way to beat the hustle and bustle of city life for the day while learning about the third president and founding father. Thomas Jefferson’s life was exciting and filled with tough decisions, which visitors can learn about on visiting his home. He completed extensive education and was one of the most instrumental parties in the Declaration of Independence. His intelligence and charisma are what made him an easy choice as the writer of this important document. Monticello was handed down to Jefferson by his father, but he designed and created the home that stands there today. He was hugely influenced by European architecture and was one of the first to bring these techniques to America. The name Monticello is Italian and means small mountain, which is a nod to its position at the top of a hill. For our attendees on this tour, there’s no need to climb the small mountain, as our motor coach will take you there in a flash. Much effort has been put in to the preservation of the home as a place for education and learning. Expert tour guides keep the home in pristine condition and inform visitors of the most notable moments in the home. The tour also includes a stop off at the famous Michie Tavern, which is more than two centuries old! We actually stop there first. This historic location still functions as a pit stop for travelers and our visitors can feel free to dine there on the tour. It offers an excellent place to have lunch (be prepared for large portions!!!). This is a long tour, lasting roughly 11.5 hours, from 8am to 7.30pm. Part of this is the travel through the countryside, though this will pass by quickly with our drivers at the helm. They are licensed driver guides who will narrate the trip and fill you with knowledge as we head to the historic area. Why should you go on this Tour?
