To reach the valley floor and Waipi‘o Beach, you must walk or drive (only with 4WD) the incredibly steep road from the lookout. Walking is recommended for those with the leg power to hike down- and uphill. If not, join a guided tour that transports you into the valley. Driving is risky: the road is not only steep but narrow and winding; at the bottom, the muddy, puddle-strewn unpaved road is a quagmire during rain.
If the parking lot near the Information Booth is full, park along the road leading there. Lock your car.
