This easy, mostly flat 0.3-mile nature loop is a good leg-stretcher for those itching to get out of the car but who are ill-equipped for a big trek. Iliau, a plant endemic to Kauaʻi’s Westside, grows along the route and produces stalks up to 10ft high. The marked trailhead comes up shortly before Mile 9 on Hwy 550.

For a top-notch panorama of Waimea Canyon and its waterfalls, you only have to walk for about three minutes past the bench on your left.
