Established by a group of teachers in the 1970s, Project Oceanology has now developed into a fully fledged marine-science program. In summer months families are invited aboard various cruises, including lighthouse expeditions, oceanographic research cruises (mid-Jun to August) and seal watches (February to March). The science cruises are the highlight, with hands-on activities, such as testing samples, trawling nets, recording data and navigation.

It is also the only organization with permission to bring visitors to New London Ledge Lighthouse, which features incredible views from smack-dab in the middle of Long Island Sound.
