Fx McRory’s Steak, Chop & Oyster House

Steak in Pioneer Square, International District & SoDo

This vast Pioneer Square landmark across from the sports stadiums is a weird blend of class and ass – it’s a majestic old space dating from 1906 with a whiskey bar on one side, a dining room on the other and an oyster bar in the middle. Its proximity to the sports stadiums equals a high ballcap-jock quotient on game days.

McRory’s has an impressive stash of bourbon – close to 280 labels – at which you can ogle, most of it shaped into a pyramid of booze behind the bar. Food-wise it's good for prime rib and seafood, particularly Dungeness crab, oysters on the half-shell, smoked salmon, prawns and Penn Cove mussels.
