Formerly the Off-Ramp, then Graceland, El Corazon has lots of history echoing around its walls – and lots of sweaty, beer-drenched bodies bouncing off them. Save your clean shirt for another night, and don’t expect perfect sound quality at every show. The gutsy bands play loudly, presumably to drown out the traffic noise from I-5 just outside the door.
The venue is etched in grunge-era mythology. Pearl Jam, then going under the name of Mookie Blaylock, played their first ever gig here in October 1990.
