Located in Tacoma, Washington, Museum of Glass is a premier contemporary art museum dedicated to glass and glassmaking in the West Coast’s largest and most active museum glass studio. Opened in 2002, the Museum has established a reputation for hosting impactful and engaging artist residencies, organizing nationally traveling exhibitions, and creating unique programs for visitors while building a growing permanent collection chronicling the development of modern and contemporary glass.
Museum of Glass is Tacoma’s cultural and architectural icon for contemporary glass art. In the Hot Shop you’ll receive a first-hand look at the process and teamwork involved in the creation of glass art, with live demonstrations each day. The Museum’s Galleries are dedicated to both temporary exhibitions, as well as our permanent collection. Explore them on your own, or join a docent lead tour.Get inspired by what you see at the Museum and create your own art. The Education Studio is an interactive learning space with projects that connect to the Museum’s exhibitions. Glass fusing and hands-on workshops are also available.Treat yourself to lunch or a cool beverage in the Museum’s Café. Take home a treasure from the Store, featuring gifts and collectibles from regional artists, and the Museum’s own Hot Shop team. Have a seat on the plaza and enjoy the spectacular views.
