Getting Around

VTA buses run all over Silicon Valley. Fares for VTA buses (except express lines) and light-rail trains are $2.50 for a single ride (day pass $7.50).

From the airport, free VTA Airport Flyer shuttles (route 10) run every 10 to 15 minutes to the Metro/Airport Light Rail station, where you can catch the light rail to downtown San Jose; shuttles also go to the Santa Clara Caltrain station.

The main San Jose light-rail line runs north–south from the city center. Heading south gets you as far as Almaden and Santa Teresa. The northern route runs to Japantown, the airport and Tasman, where it connects with another line that heads west past Great America to downtown Mountain View.

In San Jose, many downtown retailers offer two-hour parking validation. Otherwise, city-owned lots and garages downtown charge a $5 flat rate after 6pm on weekdays and all day on weekends.
