Because its 1912 building originally housed apartments, the Beresford has bigger-than-average rooms, some with kitchens. We appreciate the fancy-looking lobby, large well-kept (if conservatively decorated) rooms, reasonable minibar prices and respectable location just beyond the riffraff of the Tenderloin, but service is decidedly perfunctory. Best rooms are junior and parlor suites, which have fridges and/or kitchens.
The Beresford Arms is situated within walking distance to Union Square, Chinatown, the Moscone Convention Center and San Francisco's financial district. With nearby cable cars, guests at the hotel can also easily visit Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39.
Guests staying at the Beresford can begin the day with a cup of free coffee and a pastry. The hotel also offers free in-room wireless internet access in select rooms, along with a free afternoon tea and wine reception.
