Outdoor Activities in San Francisco

Tour description provided by Viator

My name is Alex and crabbing is a true passion of mine. I am a chef and an avid outdoorsmen. I think too many people have a disconnect between their food and where it comes from. I am looking to meet new people, enjoy time being by the ocean, teach those willing about west coast crabbing and harvest it's bounty with respect to mother nature. I am a San Francisco native so I have a lot to share!
We will meet at the Chit Chat Cafe located in Pacifica on the Pacifica pier. They have a good selection of bait to catch some of the best crabs in the bay. I'll provide insights on the nature of crabbing and fishing in the bay area, what crabs like to eat and why the bay is home to a large and distinctly diverse crab and shellfish population. Crabbing is a respectful sport so we aim to catch only what we can eat. Once we arrive at the pier I'll provide a thorough overview of the equipment and tactics needed to set up all different appropriate crabbing stations for personal consumption. I'll share how this has been an avid hobby of mine for the past 6 years and all the different types of wildlife in the bay and the best way to prepare truly San Francisco meals.
