Step back in time at HI-Sacramento, a beautifully restored Victorian mansion in the heart of California’s state capital. The hostel boasts elegant parlors, private and shared bedrooms full of period details, a new fully equipped guest kitchen, a private outdoor patio, and a new game room. Accommodations are available in shared gender-specific or co-ed dorm rooms, or in private rooms. Most rooms have shared bathrooms, but two private rooms with private baths are available. Upstairs dorm rooms feature classic Victorian fireplaces and tile work, and a mahogany-railed staircase and mezzanine overlook the lobby beneath a huge painted-glass skylight.
The hostel’s fully equipped guest kitchen features brand-new appliances, counter tops, and décor. After preparing a meal, guests can opt to eat in the hostel’s ornate dining room (complete with chandelier!) or on the outdoor patio decked out with tables, umbrellas, a barbecue, and even a fountain.

Check-in is approximately 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., baggage storage is available.
A government issued picture ID is required for check-in. International guests need a passport and domestic guests need a state issued photo ID that is not expired.
HI-Sacramento has a policy of 14 days maximum stay in a calendar year. No more than 7 combined days can be used in a calendar month. A 30 day period away from the hostel must be taken before the remaining 7 days may be used.
There is 24-hour access to the hostel once you have checked in.
Street parking near the hostel is free from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. daily and all day on Sundays. Otherwise, metered parking rates vary on the streets around the hostel starting around $2 per hour. Uncovered, gated parking is available at the hostel for $5 per night on a first-come, first-served basis. Please ask for availability upon arrival, as there are limited spots. There are also several parking lots and garages in the general vicinity of the hostel, which range in price starting at $7.50 per day.
Get off Amtrak at the Sacramento station (SAC), located at I Street and 5th Street. Walk 5 blocks east on I street, then turn left on 10th Street and walk 1 block. The hostel is on your left-hand side, at H and 10th.
The hostel is in downtown Sacramento, 4 blocks from the State Capitol and 5 blocks from the Amtrak Station. From San Francisco, Reno, or Tahoe by car, it's easily accessible by taking Highway I-80 to Highway I-5. From I-5 North, take the J Street exit, turn left on 8th Street, then right on H Street.
Limited parking is available on-site for $5 per night, per car and is on a first come, first served basis. There is a 5-minute loading zone in front of the hostel, park there and come in a get instructions on where to park.
