This cafe is one of the finest places for down-home food in Texas. It's almost as famous for its great sandwiches (grilled shrimp BLTs) and mains (center-cut pork chops, grilled rack of lamb) as it is for its vast selection of pies. The decor is a crazy collection of memorabilia covering every inch of the old clapboard walls.
Even the iced tea is superb. One way to beat the often long waits here is to call ahead to get your name on the waiting list. You'd have to book months ahead to grab a seat at Royers Cafe during the fairs.
