Welcome to Little Compton

As you drive south from Tiverton, the large wood-framed homes become older, grayer and statelier, just as an increasing number of stone walls crisscross the green landscape with its hand-hewn clapboard houses and the white-steepled United Congregational Church overlooking the Old Commons Burial Ground. Here, Elizabeth Padobie, daughter of Mayflower pilgrims Priscilla and John Alden, and the first settler born in New England, is buried.

Though many visitors are content just driving or biking around town, a pair of beaches also competes for your attention. To find them, turn right after arriving at the United Congregational Church, continue to Swamp Rd, make a left and head for the water.
