Kim Taylor Reece Gallery

Art in Punaluʻu

Reece's sepia-toned photographs of traditional Hawaiian hula kahiko (traditional hula) dancers in motion are widely recognized, but it's his images of Kalaupapa, a place of exile on Molokaʻi, that haunt. The artist's gallery inhabits an airy, light-filled house, which sits all white and dignified on the mauka (inland) side of the highway just north of town.
