Alexander Howard Lonely Planet

This outstanding coastal hike runs for 2 miles each way between Shipwreck Beach and Haʻula Beach. Leaving from Shipwreck Beach, park in the Grand Hyatt lot at the end of Ainako St; from the beach, head east through the ironwood trees.

Windblown and mostly deserted, the trail offers tremendous variety: stark cliffs, pounding seas, secluded bays and beaches, heiau ruins, tide pools and more. If you want to shorten the hike, start from Mahaʻulepu Beach, or simply turn back at any time. For an interpretive trail guide and map, visit the website or the Poipu Beach Resort Association office.
