Department Store in Chinatown & Center City East

Macy's is the latest tenant for what was once Wanamaker's, one of the US's first department stores when it opened in 1911. The sales floors fan out around a spectacular five-story tall Grand Court, in the middle of which you'll find Eagle, a giant 1904 bronze by August Gaul. 'Meet me at the Eagle' is a well-worn Philadelphia catchphrase.

From the Grand Court you can also look up at the Wanamaker Organ, which still is played for daily short concerts.
