Ethiopian in Philadelphia

Not the fanciest place for a meal but this long-running joint (opened in 1987) offers authentic Eritrean-Ethiopian cuisine, including plenty of vegetarian dishes, that you can choose to eat with your hands; use torn pieces of the injera (sour-dough pancakes) to mop up the stews.

Their attached bar is justly popular for its eclectic mix of rock, hip-hop and comedy shows, as well as dance parties.
