Welcome to State College
A town that wears its raison d'etre on its sleeve, State College is home to Penn State University, one of the 10 largest colleges in the country. Time and life seem to revolve around the football season of the Penn State Nittany Lions, at least at first blush. But there's more to this town than beer and ball, even though we'd be remiss to pretend beer and ball aren't pretty important. You can find decent museums and mountain biking trails here in the cup of 'Happy Valley,' a nickname for greater State College, plus the sophisticated Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts come summer.
