From April until October, join this environmental organization on canoe, kayak and pontoon trips through the Meadowlands, a huge wetlands slowly being restored after decades of abuse. Moonlight paddles twice a month past the old insane asylum are sure to be hair-raising. Accessible by public transit as a short walk from the Secaucus Junction Rail Station.
Ecocruises on pontoon boat happen twice a month, navigating the Meadowlands, the Hackensack River or Newark Bay. Great educational and nature-viewing opportunities, these are funded by donations. Contact Captain Hugh (201-968-0808) for information. Additional birding walks through Mill Creek Wetlands Trail are offered too.
