Turnstyle Underground Market

Food Hall in Midtown

Genius idea: take a neglected subway passage and turn it into an underground food hall and shopping avenue where commuters can grab a morning coffee or pause to scarf up tacos, chicken and waffles, Russian dumplings or sushi for lunch or dinner. Anything goes in this buzzing strip of food joints, which are complemented by small independent shops.

The market covers an entire city block and there are seven entrances, all connected to the Columbus Circle subway station.
