Pizza in Brooklyn: Coney Island & Brighton Beach

This old-school pizza parlor has been in the same family since 1924, as the wall of photos attests. Toppings are basic and traditional (pepperoni, anchovies, mushrooms and so forth), but this is the kind of pie that doesn’t need elaboration: coal-fired dough is topped with mozzarella, then tomato sauce, so your crust never gets soggy. Cash only.

A place of pilgrimage, complete with real-deal New York attitude.
