Sri Lankan in Staten Island

You'll know when you've arrived at Lakruwana, one of half a dozen Sri Lankan restaurants on Staten Island. The jaw-dropping bronze doors (and seated Buddha) mark the entrance to this temple-like eatery, which features mouthwatering curries, saffron-tinged rice and other delicacies from Sri Lanka. Weekends are the best time to come, when a buffet offers a wide array of temptations.

After dining, pay a visit to the downstairs museum, which has a small collection of temple objects, statues, ceremonial weapons and musical instruments from Sri Lanka.
