Ample Hills Creamery

Top choice ice cream in Brooklyn: Prospect Heights, Crown Heights & Flatbush

Taking its name from Walt Whitman's 'Crossing Brooklyn Ferry,' Ample Hills makes superb ice cream from organic ingredients. Imaginative flavors include ooey-gooey butter cake in a creamy vanilla base; Nonna D's oatmeal lace (brown-sugar-and-cinnamon ice cream with oatmeal cookies); and 'the munchies' (pretzel-infused ice cream with potato chips, pretzels, Ritz crackers and mini M&Ms).

Everything is made with fresh, hormone-free milk and cream at Ample Hills' Gowanus factory-shop, where the flavor-infused ice-cream bases and mix-ins are created from scratch. There are another eight stores across Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens, so if you love ice cream you owe it to yourself to hit up at least one of the locations.
