Near NYU, tiny Third Rail takes its coffee seriously, using single-origin Stumptown roasts and several different espresso blends (each gets its own grinder). The cortado (half espresso, half steamed milk) here is both robust and smooth – the perfect pick-me-up after a day out and about. There's a second location in the East Village.
