Ready to get down and dirty with graffiti? Unleash your inner street art talents with this 1 hour graffiti workshop.Enjoy a hands-on lesson which will inform you about this controversial art form. A professional artist will teach basic tools and techniques of the trade. Let your creativity loose with spray paint and participate in creating a unique urban artwork!
The group meets in Bushwick, Brooklyn outside Wyckoff-Starr coffee shop (30 Wyckoff Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11237). At the 1:15pm start time, you will begin the 1 hour activity by walking over to the nearby studio.  Your instructor - a professional graffiti artist who is recognized in New York City - will immerse you in this underground world. They will begin the workshop by walking you through a brief overview and history. Then he or she will introduce you to basic painting techniques and theories. This includes tags (small), throw-ups (medium) and pieces (large). See a live demonstration of basic techniques and observe the artist’s process. Then get ready to participate hands-on! The precise program varies with each artist, who each has their own individual presentation. You might get free-spray time, or the artist might oversee everybody creating their own unique tag name. Leave your mark on the canvas - everyone will get a chance.  At this point typically a larger central artwork will be laid out on the canvas. The program will conclude after approx. 1 hour. By the end of this workshop you will leave with an introductory understanding of graffiti and its culture.
