Charbroiled oysters at Drago's? Heaven on the half shell. This sprawling restaurant in the downtown Riverside Hilton is loaded with tourists, but oyster creations are the real deal thanks to Drago Cvitanovich, a Croatian immigrant who brought a heady knowledge of shellfish from the Dalmatian Coast to the Gulf. Oysters drip with butter, garlic, parmesan and their own juices after kissing an open fire.

The surf-and-turf menu is alright (we like the ‘Shuckee Duckee’ – a duck breast topped with oysters and cream sauce), but the oysters are the real draw here.
