At the north end of Mackinac Bridge is St Ignace, one of the departure points for Mackinac Island and the second-oldest settlement in Michigan – Père Jacques Marquette founded a mission here in 1671. The small town is a good place to get organized for onward road-tripping into the Upper Peninsula.
