Welcome to Stockbridge
In fact, Rockwell did see it – he lived and worked in Stockbridge during the last 25 years of his life. Nowadays, Stockbridge attracts summer and fall visitors en masse, who come to stroll the streets, inspect the shops and sit in the rockers on the porch of the historic Red Lion Inn. And they come by the busload to visit the Norman Rockwell Museum on the town's outskirts.
All that fossilized picturesqueness bears a price. Noticeably absent from the village center is the kind of vitality that you find in the neighboring towns.
